Rebecca Romijn (pronounced "Ro-Maine" in the USA but the proper Dutch pronunciation is "Ro-mine") was born in Berkeley, California, the daughter of Elizabeth (née Kuizenga), a public school English teacher and textbook author, and Jaap Romijn, a custom furniture maker.
